Calcium carbonate is an organic compound which made up of carbonate, calcium, and oxygen. This compound was discovered in England in 1808 by Humphrey Davy. Calcium is in a white powdery state which was traditionally used as chalk. Calcium carbonate is found in places around the world in rocks, to get this compound mining is required to get it. This compound was made into a antacid tablet in 1928 by a pharmacist named James Howe. He was a pharmacist who created this tablet while trying to help his wife with her indigestion. It's main purpose is to relief stomach aches, heart burn, and stomach acid, but some of it's side effects are constipation, gas, and burping.
